PLAYANI (ver 1.0 Mod 00) Abandoned Freeware Although GL and FLI/FLC extension files dominated the PC animation scene in the early 90's, IBM developed their own high-resolution animation program that used the file extension "ANI". Many of the animations created were rendered in very high graphics resolution, usually employing reflections, shading, and other ray-tracing techniques usually only found at the time on high-end graphics workstations. Originally for IBM internal use, but later released to the general public, PLAYANI will allow you to play these *.ANI files. Syntax = PLAYANI .ANI [options] Options can be prefixed by a - (dash) or / (slash), and must all be separated from each other by at least a space. Options (dash used for example here): -D Selects "debug" playback mode. Will show individual frames on a checkerboard background for examination of frame differences. ESC key terminates, any other key advances to next frame. -D=1 Same as -D, but no checkerboard background. -F=n Specifies N frames-per-second playback speed. -K Causes PLAYANI not to wait on a keystroke before playback. -Q Suppresses all output from PLAYANI ("Quiet" mode). -R Causes a report about animation statistics at termination. -T=n Causes PLAYANI to time out and terminate after N seconds.
