GRASPRT (ver 3.10a) Abandoned Freeware GRASP stands for "GRaphic Animation System for Professionals". The original GRASP toolkit allowed you to combine *.TXT scripts, *.PIC (PC Paint) picture files, and *.FNT font files together into a single CGA (with sound) *.GL animation file, which could be displayed with the "GRASPRT.EXE" viewer. In this way, a *.GL file is similar to an automated Power Point presentation. Later versions of GRASP supported EGA/VGA, and allowed additional filetypes to be wrapped into a GRASP file. *.GL files predate the more common *.FLI files, and were often used by computer geeks to share snippets of animated adult content. This is the last version of the original GRASP runtime viewer. It was superceded by the beta program "GRASP4", that itself was superceded by a program called "GLPLAY" (which was mostly backwards compatable with GRASP4). However by the time these newer runtime programs were released, *.GL files were passe'. From the commandline, type: GRASPRT [filename].GL file = NGRASPRT.zip ==================== Old GRASP runtime (ver 1.10c) Abandoned Freeware Animations made with the oldest shareware version of GRASP sometimes include a CGA animation element that does not reproduce correctly on the newer versions of GRASPRT, GRASP4, or GLPLAY (due to the severe difference between 80's and modern video technologies). Because of this, I am including a complementary outdated original version of the runtime viewer, that can play these oldest *.GL files correctly. NOTE: Use GRASPRT version 3.10a to display all your other *.GL files. file = OLDGRASP.zip
