Adobe Acrobat Reader (ver 1.0) Abandonware *.PDF file viewer (and printer) This is the only Acrobat Reader ever offered by Adobe. Adobe no longer supports the product, and the program cannot read files saved in the newer Adobe Acrobat Portable Document File format. Adobe has no plans to release an updated DOS Acrobat Reader. Because many newer PDF files can NOT be read by this software, you could try using a PDF conversion tool to convert your PDF files into some other file format that is more DOS friendly. ----- This program required installation. By default the files were all loaded into directories off the C:\ root. I changed the paths to the subdirectory C:\ACROBAT\. Directories created by the installer are: ACRODOS, PSFONTS, SWAP, and TEMP. The paths to each of these directories can be modified by editing C:\ACRODOS\ACROBAT.INI (the path to the SWAP directory is found in C:\ACRODOS\ACROBAT.VMC). TEMP = a "temp" location. Change path to your normal "temp" location. SWAP = a memory "swap" location. Can be changed to any other location. PSFONTS = the directory for PostScript Fonts (keep directory structure). These fonts can be merged with your other PostScript fonts. ACRODOS = Acrobat for DOS program files and manuals. Acrobat expects a Buffers line in Config.sys of at least 20 buffers. It is recommended that you load a VESA VBE driver for your video card. I have deleted the old driver included with Acrobat, as you should instead use the newer SciTech Display Doctor (available on this server). It is suggested that you include a "path" to the program file directory.
