Note: Writing in a "popular" programming language is not recommended for DOS, as program portability is actually a liability (DOS programs function best when coded just for a DOS PC, which is why the Assembly programming language is so ideal). Also, most popular languages are inherently inefficient, producing massive executable files that often also require linked libraries. Former Linux programmers should especially be conscious of the fact that DOS is NOT a variant of Unix, and as such should maintain a traditional DOS look-n-feel. Please don't use Linux "standard" directory structures, switch styles, or any other Linux conventions. Also please separate documentation (and any included source code) together into its own folder for ease of identification, and please label plain ASCII text files with the DOS defacto-standard *.txt extension. Most importantly, never give DOS users only raw source code without any compiled executables. The majority of DOS users are just users, without any desire whatsoever in creating the executables themselves.
