DosWOL (ver 1.0) Abandoned Freeware DosWOL is a WATTCP program that can tell a remote PC to power up (Wake On Lan). It works by sending a special TCP/IP packet to that computers MAC address. You must of course have a NIC with an active LAN connection, which means having the "WATTCP.CFG" file configured with your true IP information. NO special software is required on the remote PC, but the receiving computer must have a motherboard that understands Wake On Lan, and its NIC must also support WOL. If the remote PC has an add-on network card, a signal wire must be connected between the motherboard and the NIC's WOL port. The WOL feature must also be enabled in the motherboard's BIOS, and Port 12287 (0x2FFF) must be open to accept the packet. WARNING: Wake On Lan was intended to be used on a local network, and not through the Internet! DosWOL has no way of knowing if the packet was received by the remote PC (be aware that certain network switches in the path might prevent the packet from being delivered). You might therefore want to pre-configure the remote PC so it broadcasts some kind of indication whenever is wakes.
